Abstract (EN)

Iran and Anatolia, as the cradle of different civilizations, by holding distinctive geographical situations, cultural cradles and several masterpieces, possess special status in the architecture of area. Traditional houses as an architectural production formed on the base of natural conditions and cultural accumulations to accommodate different requirements of occupants. Whereas, these hoses managed to keeps its life flowing through different ages. Similarities in social-cultural structures and climatic conditions, within the frame of yazd and sanli urfa citties resulted the samples of traditional houses which were created base on similar concepts. The different places of the houses gather around the centeral yard forming an introvert spacial configurations. This spacial organization has rolled as a shelter for the societies of Yazd and Şanlıurfa based on available facilities overthere. The purpose of this research is to make an understanding, by comparison approach, about the composing elements of traditional houses in Şanlıurfa and Yazd. the resulted information could be used through designing process of the new houses. Considering the mentioned points, the first chapter encompasses the brief description shelter, dwelling and traditional dwelling. Moreover, but providing information about purpose and range of the research the research approach will be given. Through the second chapter, general information regarding the concept of shelter, dwelling and traditional houses are included. Within the third chapter, information regarding traditional houses in Iran and Anatolia, Community, square, path and traditional alleys as the forming elements of these cities are provided. Also, the types of traditional dwelling upon these two cities are categorized. The forth chapter analyzes climatic, historic, social, and cultural features of Şanlıurfa and Yazd. The configuration of historic urban fabric, the structure and materials used in the houses, the influential elements in forming the spaces of the houses in three different parts; open, semi-open and enclosed also have been examined. For reaching the purposes of the research, the analyzing papers of each house has been surveid and the results have been analyzing assess. The fifth chapter includes the analysis of the results gained from this assessment, which concludes by providing of deduction and suggestions resulted from mentioned research.
