Abstract (EN)

In this PhD thesis, modelling and analysis of several membrane-based air dehumidification systems have been performed. In the study, firstly, brief information about membranes and membrane dehumidification systems, frequently encountered in the literature, have been given. Then, the mass transfer analysis of different types of membrane dehumidification systems using different fluids have been carried out by utilizing COMSOL Multiphysics and MATLAB softwares. Moreover, the design, theoretical and experimental investigations of the tubular membrane-based dehumidification system, which has not previously been studied in the literature, have been performed in the scope of this study. Using the results obtained from the analysis of the system for different fluids and flow types, equations related to the design parameters have been presented for the mass transfer coefficient. In the final chapter of the study, the dehumidification performance of the membrane tube bundle liquid desiccant dehumidification system, which was modeled based on the tubular membrane-based dehumidification system, has been investigated for different types of designs.
