Differences in the interperetation of Qur'anic parables in Menar and Hak Dini Kuran dili tafsirs

The decline of the Islamic world and the progress of the West at a dizzying pace in industry, technology and culture in the 19th and 20th centuries caused Islamic thought to be questioned again. The re-questioning of Islamic thought was also seen in some works written in the field of tafsir in the said period. In this study, the interpretations of the parables in the Menar tafsir of Muhammad Abduh who lived in Egypt and known for his positivist interpretations and of his student Reşid Riza, and in the Hak Dini Kur'an Dili tafsir of Elmalili M. Hamdi Yazir, one of the great Islamic scholars of the last period who lived in Anatolia, are discussed comparatively. In the study, different and similar scientific interpretations of the Qur'anic parables in the two tafsir works were evaluated. The parables about which different or similar scientific interpretations were not made were not included in the study. In the first chapter, the lives, scientific personalities, social and political activities of the authors are discussed and their main works are briefly introduced. In addition, the basic concepts of the parables are explained in summary. In the second chapter, different interpretations on the prophet parables are identified together with their evidence and at the end of each parable interpretation, a brief evaluation was made based on the evidences in question. In the third chapter, parables about events, places and beings are examined. The different interpretations of these parables in both tafsirs have been evaluated in accordance with the procedure explained in the second chapter. At the end of this chapter, similar scientific interpretations made about the parables in Menar and Hak Dini Kur'an Dili tafsirs are also identified and evaluated.
