Economic life in Giresun in the period of Menderes (1950-1960)

The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of the economic policies of Democratic Party and changing conjuncture on Giresun and finally to be able to compare the past and following years' effects .Türkiye's obligation depending on the change of the World order in 1945 required politically and economically different systems. The support came to Türkiye by becaming close to the Western alliance with the Truman Doctrin and Marshall Plan. In this manner, the economical recovery could be achieved until the middle of the 1950's. However, the investments done both by state or domestic private and foreign capital couldn't be distributed. Especially, considering the economical impacts on investments by geographical conditions, the economical developments of each cities of Türkiye would be different and in result of this some pro-vinces have benefited more from industrial investments.As Giresun lived a long period of reflections of the harsh conditions of the War years, the rate of the benefit from the recovery process across the country has not been high. The public of Giresun migrated in order to study to other provincies because of the less investment together with the hunger,deads and unemployment conditions. This migration brought big changes to Giresun's profiles of the job, educational and agricultural sides.In this master's thesis, it was clearly concluded that the development of Giresun's Economy was far behind the rest provinces of Türkiye.
