Özet (EN)

C-Abl is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a crucial role in various cellular functions, including migration, proliferation, and survival. Its involvement has been observed in normal tissues, hematopoietic cancers, and solid tumors. Meningiomas are among the most common benign primary brain tumors, but despite their generally benign nature, they can demonstrate aggressive behaviors by adhering to the cortex and entrapping vessels and nerves. This adhesion can complicate surgical removal of the tumor and may lead to recurrence, depending on the tumor's type and grade. This study aimed to explore the relationship between c-Abl and phosphorylated c-Abl expression in normal arachnoid tissue and meningiomas. We conducted a comparative analysis of the clinicopathological features and biomarker profiles of 23 meningioma patients, considering factors such as sex, age, tumor location, histological subtype, c-Abl expression, phosphorylated c-Abl expression, Ki67 index, p53 status, intraoperative adhesion, and other relevant clinical characteristics. The patients' ages ranged from 30 to 72 years, with a predominance of females. The most common tumor locations were the parietal convexity, clinoidal region, and parasagittal areas. Histologically, most tumors were classified as grade I (benign) meningiomas. Our study demonstrated the presence of c-Abl and phosphorylated c-Abl in normal arachnoid tissue and dura mater. Although the results were not statistically significant due to the small sample size, we observed that c-Abl was upregulated in adhesive benign meningiomas. We could not establish a relationship between c-Abl expression and the other factors we investigated. This study can serve as a foundation for further research into the role of c-Abl in the pathology of meningiomas. Key words: c-Abl, phospho c-Abl, Meningioma, Adhesion, Ki67, p53.
