Abstract (EN)

Epics are the richest treasures that carry the whole existence of a nation and the struggle for existence as a nation from the past to the future. The epic of each nation carries its national characteristics. In this study, two epics, one belongs to the Turkish culture and the other to the Ancient Greek culture, were selected and compared to the agents that reveral the national hero perception of two different civilizations. In the study titled " Comprasion between the Ancient Greek Epic Odysseia and the Altaic Turks' Alankay Batır Epic in terms of Central Hero Type" the characteristics of the two epics are determined according to their national features at first. Then, the similarities and the differences of the epics are examined. The results of the comprasion are evaluated in the conclusion part of the thesis. In the process of collecting data, the method of resource research is used together with the use of written sources ( literature rewiew). While conduncting resource research, the most effective way of reading, tagging, evaluation, text analysis, library archive scanning methods and research techniques are used. With this study, which examines the epics from two different cultural environments by comparing and contrasting, the national features are presented in the form of personality of the central hero.
