Evaluation of the wound healing phytochemical and antiinflamatuary activities of the mersin (Myrtus communis L.) plant

Abstract (EN)

In this work, yield and chemical composition of the oils which have been obtained from the plant of Mersin ,naturally grown in Turkey, has been investigated.Also obtained by hexane extraction of lipophilic and hydrophilic substance obtained by acetone eksraksiyo amount and components, were also investigated.On the other hand, anatomical structure of this species was also examined, pine cones and leaf sizes were measured. Wound healing activity in vivo and in vitro was investigated using experimental models. Using histopathological evaluation ulcerations of the skin tissues, re-epithelization, fibroblast growth, mono/polymorphonuclear cells, vascularization and collagen increase qualitatively (+, + +, + + + form) are evaluated, the test samples of wound healing was determined to be in which phase. In order to determine the anti inflammatory effect in mice with acute methods carrageen carrageen-induced hind paw edema test, which is based on inhibition of the increase in vascular permeability method (Whittle method) was applied. Volatile oil obtained from the Myrtus communis L. fruits wound tensile strength ratio of 39.1% on the linear incision wound model, by providing contraction rate of 60.08% in the model of the circular excision wound, were found to have significant wound healing activity. When it is found that the n-hexane extracts obtained from Myrtus communis L. berries has significant activity in the circular excision wound model in the ratio of 49.19%, the same extract, did not provide a significant increase in wound tensile strength.From the tested samples anti-inflammatory effects evaluated in Whittle Method that based on inhibition of permeability acetic acid-induced capillaries, the essential oil obtained from Myrtus communis L. fruit provided significant inhibition at the rate of 28.5% has been determined. As a result ıt has been suggested that especially Myrtus communis L.fruit extracts can be used wound healing preparation and anti-inflammatory.
