In this study, two different residential supply systems are analyzed using solar panels and PEM fuel cells. These analyzes are performed on actual irradiance and usage data from Loughborough-England and Afyonkarahisar-Turkey locations. First of all, the end user is fed with the energy produced from the solar panels. In the case of surplus energy supply, firstly, the battery systems and then the electrolysis device is activated and stored. When the production of solar panels is insufficient, the energy demand is met with fuel cells. If the energy produced here is insufficient or no energy can be produced, battery systems are activated, and the loads are fed. Thus, a system that meets its energy from renewable energy sources is sized, and the unit energy cost is calculated as 208 and 148,7 $/MWh, respectively. For a grid supply system with the same cost, the lowest distance is calculated as 24,3 km for Loughborough and 90,7 km for Afyonkarahisar. It has been demonstrated that feeding an on-grid system over this distance will be more costly.
