The evaluation of security of work in the practice of area of the students at occupational and technical anatolian high school (An example of Gümüşhane province)

This study aimes to evaluate the occupational safety of vocational and technical anatolian high school students in field applications and offer solutions. The universe of the study, which is cross-sectional and descriptive, consists of 9th, 10th,11th and 12th grade students (n=318 persons) in Gümüşhane Vocational and Technical High School. It was planned to reach the entire population without choosing any sampling method, except volunteers and refusers, 261 people were reached. The research data; with a literature-based consent form created by the researchers, was applied on the students regarding their sociodemographic characteristics, working environment factors, risks encountered in field practices, occupational safety, questions for assessing occupational health and questionnaire consisting of Occupational Safety Scale survey was applied to students, during their break times. Due to the pandemics, the survey was administered on google forms. In the analysis of the data frequency, mean, standard deviation, t test, Mann Whitney U test, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis and correlation tests were used. Occupational Safety scale mean score of the students studying in the field of electricity and machinery were detected to be higher than the students' in other areas. Occupational Safety scale mean score of the students who have a bad or very bad relationship with the field application supervisors were found to be lower when compared to other students. Within the scope of this study, occupational safety of students was found out at a moderate level. Trainings should be raised to increase the occupational safety of students whose field is furniture and installation.
