Examination of vocational and technical anatolian high school students' attitudes and opinions towards the sportive activities of mentally disabled individuals

The aim of this research is to examine the attitudes and opinions of the students studying at Bingöl Karşıyaka Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School towards the sports activities of individuals with mental disabilities. The universe of the research consists of 780 students studying at Bingöl Karşıyaka Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in the 2022-2023 academic year. The sample group was determined by the random method of 276 people. The attitude scale towards sports activities of individuals with mental disabilities (ZEBSEYTÖ) developed by İlhan et al. (2016) was used as the data collection tools in the research. IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 22 statistical analysis package program was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the normality test of the obtained data, it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution. The scores of the Faculty of Sport Sciences students from the attitude level scale towards sports activities of individuals with mental disabilities are presented as arithmetic mean and standard deviation X±Sd. While independent groups t test was used in comparisons of binary variables, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used in comparisons of multiple variables and LSD (Least Significant Difference) analysis was used in determining the differences. In terms of significance value, p<0.05 was accepted as significant. As a result, we can say that the attitudes and opinions of individuals with mental disabilities towards sports activities are significant at a positive level.
