The determination of the level of Copeptin, Ghrelin and Pro-BNP in metabolik syndrome in patients

Metabolic Syndrome which is accepted as one of the most important health problems of today; it is characterized by the association of systemic diseases such as abdominal obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, Type 2 diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease. Therefore, in our study, we aimed to determine the relationship between MetS and three different molecular markers (Copeptin, Ghrelin and Pro-BNP) which are directly related to the metabolism and the cardiovascular system. The study included 44 patients with diagnosed as MetS and 30 healthy volunteers who applied to internal medicine outpatient clinic were included in the study. Copeptin and Ghrelin levels were determined by ELISA and Pro-BNP by electrochemiluminescence (ECL) method. Copeptin levels were significantly lower (P=0.034) in patients with MetS (1.57 ± 1.24 pmol/l) compared to the control group (1.78±1.35 pmol/l). Serum Ghrelin levels were found to be lower (P=0.027) in patients with MetS (125,36 ± 22,45 pmol/l) compared to the control group (158.63 ± 33.27 pmol/l). Serum Pro-BNP levels were higher (P=0.048) in patients with MetS (49.22 ± 9.11 pg / mL) than in the control group (32.10 ± 6.78 pg/mL). Copeptin, Ghrelin and Pro-BNP levels are directly related to various MetS components, not only in itself, but also in obesity and high triglyceride concentration. The data obtained in our study is thought to be guiding the follow-up of risky patients.
