The effects of metaverse on society: The example of political parties in Turkey

With the developing and changing world order, changes, transformations and erosions have begun to occur in societies. The main factor that played the biggest role in bringing about the changes and pushed the button was industrial development. With the influence of industrial development, a platform such as metaverse emerged. This platform has started to create new social relations by changing the traditional social relations within the society. The Covid 19 pandemic gave the greatest support to this change in social relations. Because of the restrictions imposed by the Covid 19 epidemic, many areas that require physical presence have been replaced by virtual spaces created by online relationships. Training continued through various online applications such as Zoom. In this thesis titled "The Effects of Metaverse on Society: The Example of Political Parties in Turkey", it is aimed to determine how the metaverse affects societies positively and negatively and what changes it causes on societies. The study, which will be carried out on parties, determines whether the parties participating in the local elections use the metaverse, and if so, for what purpose they use it, what problems they encounter, and what the solution proposals they have developed against these problems are revealed. Thus, it is tried to understand how the metaverse, which has a great role in shaping the future society, is perceived by the political parties that claim to direct the society.
