Abstract (EN)
Urbanization and industrialization, which are developing together with the increasing population in the world, are at the beginning of the factors that increase energy consumption. The use of fossil fuels, the cutting of trees, agriculture, etc. human activities have caused a significant increase in greenhouse gas emissions with the industrial revolution. Due to the fact that the construction sector largely causes energy consumption and has a great saving potential, it is one of the issues that should be addressed as a priority in energy efficiency. New buildings are controlled by existing standards and regulations at all stages. Existing structures also need to be improved in terms of energy efficiency. Reducing consumption in residential buildings, which constitute a large part of the existing building stock, is one of the strategies determined to reduce energy consumption. In recent years, with increasing technological developments and the search for solutions to climate problems, building facades have started to gain more importance both in the building production process and in urban centers. In this thesis study, an existing building was modeled and facade improvements were made on the building. As a result of these improvements, which are divided into traditional and innovative, daylight levels and energy performances have been analyzed by simulation method and the results obtained have been compared. Traditional improvements have been classified as applying standard insulation to the opaque surface, changing the glass ratio, changing the glass property, and integrating a sunbreaker into the facade. In innovative improvements, three different parametric facade designs were integrated into the facade and analyzed in cases where there are different densities on the facade. Simulation studies were made by Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Energy Plus, Open Studio, and Climate Studio tools. As a result of the study, it is aimed to draw conclusions about how improving the building shell on residential buildings will improve the energy performance of the building and to reveal a sample study that can be used as a guide. In order to create a guide that can be used by different stakeholders, to support new value creation opportunities, to facilitate stakeholder decisions, and to provide greater integration between these stakeholders, it is aimed that the study will be the driving force in identifying academic gaps.
