Mevlânâ Halid-i Baghdadî's approach to reform

This thesis will be about " Mawlānā Khalid-i Baghdādī's Understanding of Reform". As a matter of fact, the reformation of individuals and society is of great importance in the Quran and Sunnah. Therefore, Mevlana Khalid made great efforts for a radical social reform within the framework of his scientific and Sufi guidance activities. Mevlana Khalid applied the Quran and Sunnah method in his reform works. The basic principles of his understanding of reform are principles such as having a solid idea of monotheism, piety, obedience, adhering to the Sunnah, purification of the soul, purification of the heart, sincerity, direction, observation and humility. Because if such an environment of understanding of religious life is provided, the reformation of the whole society is achieved. This study consists of an introduction and two parts. In the introduction, an effort has been made to evaluate the geography where Mevlana Khalid was born and the environment in which he lived in terms of social, political, scientific and mystical aspects. In the first chapter, information is given about Mevlana Halid's life and his tendency towards Sufism. In the section of his life, research has been carried out on his place of birth, history, lineage, childhood, youth, education life, teachers, the scientific and Sufi permissions he received, as well as his literary side and works. In the section on his orientation towards Sufism, his pilgrimage, his journey to India, his entry into the Naqshbandi sect, his ijazah and his death are discussed. In the second part, evaluations were made about Mevlana Halid's work for the betterment of society. The principles and methods he put forward for social reform and the prominent concepts in this reform thought were examined.
