The discovery of self in Mevlana`s Mesnevi

The self was examined through theological and philosophical concepts in the study of ?The Discovery of Self in Mevlana?s Mesnevi?. According to this the self can only be discovered with the guidence of a master who has reached an ethical and intellectual maturity rather than with rational and analytical thinking.One can find himself / herself in his/her master by overpowering his own self, not by keeping himself / herself in captivity in his / her own self. This can only be reached through love. The person who sees the divine self on his friend?s face falls in love with him and sees his darling?s face on every face he sees. This face is the ?self?.A person?s physical and spiritual side is his / her one of the biggest paradoxes. These paradoxes are analysed from the perspectives of Kant, Freud and Mevlana in this study. The similarity between Freud?s libido concept and Mevlana?s nefs concept is focused on. Kant?s concept noumen and phenomonon are studied from the perspective of the idea of self. Besides , although Aristo and Plato had the theories of state and society , it was researched why Mevlana was only interested in spiritual education of the individual. At this point, this situation can be summarised with a saying by Konfiçyus : ?Do you want to save your country? Then save the society first. Do you want to save the society? Then save your family first. Do you want to save your family? Then save yourself first.Apart from these, Mevlana?s idea of İnsan-ı Kamil was evaluated together with Nietzsche?s superior human, and similarities and differences in between were emphasised.Finally it was concluded through the philosophy of Descartes that there exists The God between the human and his heart and the God causes such effects in human?s body and mind as illnes and health. God reveals himself with his names and attributions and has discovered the unity of trinity `s Brother, self and God.
