The Impact of the Mihne Incident on the Kitabu's-Sunna literature

This study was written in order to examine the Kitâbü's-Sunna literature and to reveal how the Mihna event, which had an important impact on the history of hadith, affected the development of literature and caused a change. Subjects such as how this change and transformation took place, in which direction it evolved in terms of language and writing style, whether the volumes and subjects of the works have expanded, and whether their addressees have diversified are among the objectives of our research. The treatises of faith, which we named as "The Pioneers of the Kitâbü's-Sunnas", which were determined to be copyrighted before the Mihna period and close to the Mihna period, were compared with the contents of the works that we named as the first examples of the "Kitâbü's-Sunnas" and the characteristic features of the period were determined. Afterwards, the works that were copyrighted during and after the Mihne period, and which we believe reflect the discussion topics of the period in the most comprehensive way, were also examined with the same method, thus trying to determine the characteristic features. By comparing the features we identified in the pre-Mihna books with the prominent features we saw in the Mihne period and post-Mihna works, the addressees of both periods were compared in terms of the subjects they were criticized, style, method and understanding, so it was tried to understand how the event in question affected the literature.
