Abstract (EN)

Many metropolitan cities in the world are now seeking for the alternatives where buildings require lesser areas with smaller spaces for the accomodation due to the adverse effects of the highly dense population, as well as the increase in the estate prices and the rising trend for living in a single status. Microdwellings at this point offer a wide range of accommodities desired indoors through the properly mastered plans of interior design which transform the tiny spaces into comfortably spacious vast areas. Microdwelling being nature friendly and requiring much lesser space offers us many utilities which also allows a higher living standard at a reasonable price. In this work we will be examining the microdwellings built in many different countries throughout the world and some of the interior space modellings to give an idea on the relation between space and furniture. The use of the multiply functioning furnitures is a necessity in microdwellings thus we have also examined some of the transformable units allowing at least two sets of space-saving functioning. Considering the socio-economical and cultural conditions of Turkey, the microdwelling projects may well be of a great use especially in some of the business areas as well as in the health and educational sectors allowing the workers and staff suitable accomodations at reasonable prices without compromising from their basic comforts.
