Static structural analysis of a cnc milling machine tool for micro machining processes

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the structural analysis of the computer numerically controlled (CNC) milling machine developed specifically for micro milling operations was performed based on the finite element (FE) method and the stress and deformation distribution was calculated under different structural conditions. In the analysis process, the stress accumulation and deformation amounts on the side plates were investigated under the given boundary conditions and force applied to the spindle. Various models have been designed for the side plates. These designs were made by changing the inner corner curve radius and outer corner chamfer dimension of the side plates and making a segmented side plate. The analysis of the mesh size was also performed for the side plates using different element sizes. Based on the results obtained, it was observed that the lower part almost showed a rigid behavior in the segmented side plate analysis. The optimum curvature radius for the side plate upper part was also determined and it was found that the outer corners had no significant effect on the results. Analyzes were also performed for the ball screw, support shafts and spindle bearing. As a result of the analysis carried out, the support shafts were removed from the body.
