The wars in Kutahya and its environs during national struggle

Kütahya City and its environs is a region where the most importantskirmishes has been suffered during the National Struggle periods and thus the turningpoint of the independence war.The committee of ?National Corps? which was a reaction against theinvasions occurred by means of Mondros Armistice has been organized in Kütahya on20 September 1919. In these years Eskişehir and Kütahya was under the Britishoccupation. Kütahya has been independent thanks to the endeavors of MajorCommander smail Hakkı, Captain smet, captain Süleyman, Lieutenants Tahsin andNüzhet Bey who were the founders of National Corps.The ?National Regiment? which was founded in Kütahya have undertakenvery significant missions during the Salvation war. The Greeks who were not satisfiedwith the invasion of zmir on 15 May 1919 have strengthen their invasions in order bothto implement Sevres Agreement and to destroy Turkish Government by arriving toAnkara.Greeks has invaded Afyon on 13 July, Kütahya on 17 July and Eskişehir on19 July 1921.
