Abstract (EN)
This thesis study aims to analyze the 2021, 2022 and 2023 productivity performances of 11 science centers within the framework of the National Technology Initiative, which is one of Turkey's goals in the field of technology and innovation. Science centers play critical roles in increasing the sustainability of society, developing analytical thinking and problem solving, and integrating young generations into technological production. In this context, the activities, technical efficiency and development potential of science centers across Türkiye are discussed in detail. In the study, the performances of science centers were evaluated with the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, and strong and weak dynamics were determined. The study offers suggestions consisting of sections such as digital transformation of science centers, optimum resource use, international collaborations, and expansion of education. The results of the study did not only remain with the values of current performance levels, but also guided the concrete steps taken for science centers to achieve a sustainable and developed structure. As a result, this study presented a roadmap for science centers to reveal the opportunity of Turkey to contribute to technology and innovation and for these centers to be positioned more effectively within the framework of the National Technology Initiative.
