Phases of Turkish Natinalist ideas in the tradition of the Nationalist Movement Party

The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), which has a similar historical background with the nationalization process and multiparty politics of Turkey, bases in this context its political tradition on the Millet Party (MP) established in 1948. On the other hand, it built the idea of nationalism on the idea of Turkish nationalism, which stood out among other ideas as a result of the concern for survival in recent years of the Ottoman Empire. Ziya Gökalp's ideas about Turkish nationalism have made them-selves felt throughout his entire political tradition, and discussions and criticisms have always been carried out through Gökalp's thought. It is clear that the MHP's ties with Atatürk and the nation-state (nation-state), and in other words, its efforts to legitimize itself with the nation-state, are also made possible through Gökalp. It is possible to see the influences of Gökalp in the nationalism idea advocated by MP and the Turkish Peasant Party under the name of "Moderate Nationalism", in the nationalism program and in the aim of "Turkish Renaissance" put forward by CKMP and Alparslan Türkeş. This idea can also be seen in the direct discourses of the Party in the 1970s. Right after the 27th of May, the CKMP period, when Turkish nationalism gained a political organization with its accumulation and the "National Doctrine" emerged it has been a period. The period that opened with the CKMP taking the name of MHP was the period when the "National Doctrine", as a strategic expansion, headed for a stra-tegic expansion between tradition and modernity, in accordance with Gökalp's idea, under the name of "Turkish-Islamic Synthesis", aimed at internal peace was directed towards the masses. In the atmosphe-re on September 12,1980, Turkish nationalists affiliated with the MHP tradition turned to the recovery efforts of Türkeş during her 4,5 years in prison and tried to achieve this under the name of the Conserva-tive Party and the Nationalist Work Party. After that, the name of the MHP was transformed again, and the experience of the intellectual and political tradition was transferred to the 1990s. Whether the MHP, which is experienced in evaluating the idea of Turkish nationalism on the realities of Turkey, has chan-ged or not, was among the topics discussed in the 1990s.
