Comparison of advanced technology methods in the creation of architectural models

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine the most efficient method for the creation of solid models of varying structures that are required by methods of analysis by utilizing advanced technology tools such as terrestrial laser scanning, aerial photogrammetry and terrestrial photogrammetry. Within the scope of the study, along with solid models to be created by making use of plans and cross-sections sketched based on conventional measurement techniques of the Külliye mosque in Odunpazarı, Eskişehir, the objective was to determine the most efficient technique to be used for the creation of solid models in adherence with the analysis carried out by using advanced technology methods. As a result of the study, errors were identified in the published sketches of the structure which inevitably affect the outcome of analyses. It has been noted that some of these errors have been repeated in literature and that sketches of dome structures present certain architectural elements in an incomplete or inaccurate manner. Efficient documentation methods serving the needs of the methods of analysis evaluated within the scope of the study have been assessed both in terms of their advantages and disadvantages; and efficient methods have been suggested according to the nature of the analysis.
