A research on the user profile creating methods andempathic approach of architects in the design process

The aim of this thesis is to reveal the user profile creation methods used by architects in the design process and to evaluate their empathic approach towards the user. Empathy, which is widely used in psychology, education, art and health, is also used in architecture discipline. It is necessary to see empathy, which is an interdisciplinary subject, in the field of architecture, and to discuss it on a scientific basis and to propose new methods and approaches without losing control of expert knowledge and experience. In the design phase, the architect and user communication is under the responsibility of the architect who is in the position of an expert. The thought of serving human psychology with techniques in the architectural profession should be taken her time. The user may fail in transferring many things they have experienced during the use phase to the architect. Therefore, the architect, who is in the position of an expert, is expected to reveal the needs, possibilities in addition to desires of the user with new empathic approaches developed. The research consists of five parts. The first part includes the status of the problem, the purpose, importance scope, assumptions, limitations and method of the research. The second given addressed the design processes, user participation, design models, 3I rule, communication, types of communication in addition to Space-User-Architect communication cycle.In the third chapter , the concept of empathy, the importance and place of empathy the importance and place of empathy in the field of architecture, empathy and user satisfaction, empathy in the profession of minimalism are examined . Investigation of the fourth research, the universe of the research and its placement. Teaching from the city of Gaziantep has been revealed by creating design stories and the empathic approaches that 5 architects exhibit the methods in addition to practices of creating user profiles in their projects.
