Abstract (EN)

As of the end of the 20th century, conventional media formations have evolved to digital media formations by transforming and improving. This transformation has also changed the way the created content is produced and presented. In today's traditional media tools, the content and the order of presentation of the content are determined by the managers of the media, while a large part of the content in the digital media environment is created by the users. In the online environment, anyone can be both a content provider and a user of new media. Therefore, owing to its easy accessibility, digital media formations that are included in daily life have become new platforms where information is produced, and information flow is provided. This study deals with architectural information flow through today's digital media formations. The aim of this study is to explore the effects of the active inclusion of architectural digital media platforms in the field of architectural design knowledge on contemporary architectural debates. In this context, this thesis study raises the following questions: (i) How is academic knowledge flowing in architecture? What is the place of digital architecture media platforms in this information flow? (ii) Are these platforms a guide or a follower in the development of architectural knowledge and contemporary architectural discussions? Focusing on these questions, the study determined a descriptive methodology rather than putting forward a hypothesis. In line with this approach, the scope of the study has been determined as digital architectural platforms that are independent of geography and cultures, broadcasting internationally and in English. The preliminary literature review of this thesis consisted of primary and secondary sources on the relationship between digital media and architecture. In addition, there are many studies in the literature on digital media formations at the intersection of philosophy, psychology, and sociology. However, when these studies are examined, it is seen that they focus on the social and psychological effects of digital media on society. For this reason, the mentioned studies have been kept at the preliminary literature level and evaluated within the scope. Again, within the scope of the thesis, there is no study in the academic field in the intersection of digital architectural media and architectural information flow and architecture agenda.
