Abstract (EN)
With the development of technology, media designs that are included in all areas of our lives are also involved in urban public spaces. Media designs that allow city users to socialize, have new experiences and spend quality time appear as a common feature of public spaces belonging to 21st-century cities. In this study, the interaction of media designs, which exist in a public space with different scales, forms, and purposes, with users is analyzed, and the utility potential of media architecture products to the city and city users, beyond being an object of art, is questioned. This questioning took place through 279 designs that had been produced under media architecture between 1999 and 2021 and grouped into different categories. While this study scrutinizes the utility potentials of new media architecture, which has a history of two decades, it also provides a critical view of the effects of extreme technological construction and use processes of media designs on nature. Keywords: Media Architecture, Interactive Media Architecture, Media Architecture in Public Space
