The postmodern elements in Mine Söğüt's novels

The aim of the thesis is to identify the postmodern elements in the novels of Mine Söğüt, who had a place in the late period of Turkish literature with different style, fairy tale and ironic language. Firstly, in the study, modernization boundaries and definitions were made to understand the author's novels better. Later, different sides of postmodernism formation, attitude and modernism were identified. These definitions and determinations contain ideas of many thinkers, artists and academics including Turkey. Söğüt's works are evaluated with the definition of postmodernism as opposed to modernism even though there are many differents ways and approaches to the limits of postmodernism. Moderrnism creates a view that reduces everything to the same value with the attitude of postmodernism "goes whatever" in response to the attitude that has created many "big narratives" which defend intelligence, experiment and the only truth. In this understanding many different ideas can come side by side and also many truths are accepted instead of the one truth. Thinkers and elements such as pluralism, play, supremacy, intertextuality, irony, postfeminism are agreed by artists in accordance with the features that postmodernism has created with in postmodern literature. The main elements of postmodernism have been identified in Mine Söğüt's all novels. These elements have been examined with different readings through a rigorous text review method. The texts in which the artist combines the rich sources of Western and Turkish literature with the elements of intertextuality and supersetting also centering the reader with establishng a funny playground have been evaluated in this context.
