Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, where the spaces of the unconscious are conceptualized through the uncanny, dream spaces, which offer an out-of-body and unconscious experience environment, are discussed through a trilogy formed by the concepts of consciousness, body and space, and interpreted through the film selected as a case study. Within the scope of this thesis, where architectural and unconscious space experiences are discussed through the uncanny as a result of the subject's mental activities, a phenomenological research method is adopted due to the subjective nature of dream experiences. In the first chapter, the purpose, scope, and methodology are introduced. In the second chapter, the process until the emergence of body-centered phenomenology is discussed through the concepts of consciousness, body and space. In the third part, the dream spaces seen as the uncanny point of phenomenology, are discussed from a phenomenological perspective through the concepts of consciousness, body and space. At this juncture, it is concluded that phenomenological discussions on space are possible in environments where consciousness and the body is not active. Nevertheless, it has been observed that while the spaces of the unconscious, where the physical activities of the body are not in question, but the experiences of the body are perceived through the mind, offer an out-of-body experience close to corporeality, the experience of space can make the experience of space uncanny by causing the bodily experiences of the person to merge with the repressed thoughts. At this point, in order to discuss the spaces of the unconscious, dream spaces are handled in the thesis in line with a phenomenological perspective. The case study proposes a phenomenological discussion of non-physical space, which offers a space of disembodied and unconscious experience, through Michel Gondry's film "La science des rêves" (2006) in line with the main character's experience. As a result of the case study, it is suggested that the scope of phenomenological discussions shaped through space should include the concepts of the disembodied and the unconscious, which are seen as the uncanny point of the approach, and in this direction, the scope of theoretical discussions should be expanded.
