Abstract (EN)

The rapid developments in informatics, communication and mobile technologies have been causing remarkable and visible changes on the education, as well as affecting our life in every other aspect. The use of technology in education have created a flexible learning situation that's free from the constraints of time and space. Thus, it provided an opportunity of distance learning, e-learning and m-learning for the people who studied and learnt how to use technology in education. Along with the introduction of mobile learning in our lives and its usage in music education, the notion of "mobile music" became more and more pronounced in training and education. In this context mobile music applications, in today's conditions, are used complementary to music education. Mobile music applications have categories such as fundamental music training, instrument training, instrument sounds, play-alongs, note dictation, listening to music, recording sounds and mixing, usage of equalizer, tuner and metronome. In this research, several mobile music apps that are anticipated to help the education of Music Theory and Ear Training have been scanned. And it has been concluded that the best application built in compliance with the current curriculum found out to be "My Ear Training" app. Supporting the Music Theory and Ear Training courses of music teacher candidates with this mobile app (My Ear Training) will most likely be very beneficial, by considering the results and suggestions of this research. This research has been prepared in order to detect the level of contribution this music application makes, to the success of Music Theory and Ear Training courses. This research have used quantitative methods and the preliminary-final testing models within a control group. The subjects of this experiment have been put together amongst 26 "music teacher" scholars still attending Ankara Music and Fine Arts University, Musical Education Department of the school year 2021-2022. In the experimental course of the research, My Ear Training mobile music app has been used. In this stage, the education of the experiment group was supported by the mobile music app for 8 weeks in the Music Theory and Ear Training courses, whereas the control group has carried out the routine learning process. A music theory and ear training examination has been done in the course of the preliminary and the final tests in the course of the experiment. In this experiment non-parametric, statistical tests such as Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann-Whitney U Test have been used. The acquired data has been analyzed by using the SPSS 26.0 package program within a statistical perspective. Analyzing the data obtained from the research; a meaningful statistical difference(p<0,05) has been observed between the experiment and the control group regarding the success rate of mobile music app in Music Theory and Ear Training courses. In this context, the support of the mobile music app (My Ear Training) has considerably increased the success rate of the students. Research states that;A meaningful statistical difference between the preliminary and the final music theory & ear training test results of the experiment group has been observed. The support given by My Ear Training app has positively contributed to the success of "Western Music Theory and Ear Training" class.• 54% of the control group's final test scores (7 people) are observed to be in decline, compared to the preliminary scores and 46% of the final test scores are observed to increase compared to the preliminary grades. • There hasn't been a meaningful statistical difference between the preliminary and the final test grades of students in the control group. • A meaningful statistical difference has been observed between the experiment and the control group students regarding the Music Theory and Ear Training scores. It has been observed that support of My Ear Training app increases the level of success in the "Western Music Theory and Ear Training" course.
