Abstract (EN)
Anthropogenic activities and increasing population cause pollution in ecosystems. More than one third of the world's water is used for agricultural, domestic and industrial pur-poses; as a result of these activities, various synthetic and geogenic compounds such as dyes, fertilizers, pesticides and heavy metals pollute water resources. Among these pol-lutants, dyes stand out from the others because they are widely used in every sector. In fact, dyes are considered to be one of the most important pollutants in terms of water pollution today. Therefore, in this study, the adsorption of one of the common dyes, Bromophenol Blue (BPB), was investigated. In the first stage of the study, gels were produced with Poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) polymer. In the second stage, these gels were modified and new adsorbents were prepared for the adsorption of BPB dye. In the last stage, the adsorption of BPB dye was carried out with these modified gels. In this stage, batch adsorption method was used. The experiments determined the most suitable adsorbent amount, initial dye concentration, pH and temperature parameters for PGMA gels. The adsorption mecha-nism between PGMA gels and BPB dye was explained by Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubi-nin-Radushkevich and Temkin isotherm models. As a result, it was observed that PGMA gels had a good performance in terms of adsorption of BPB dye.
