Abstract (EN)
Wall tiles are high esthetical products commonly prefered for internal aplications those have high porosity and thefore high water absorption. Monoporosa wall tiles are the wall tiles produced by single firing method. In this dissertation, in order to improve the firing conditions of single-fired wall tiles including the aim of decreasing the firing temperature and/or firing time, several body compositions were developed. It is well known that the raw materials including calcium carbonate causes carbon dioxide emission in terms of decomposition reaction. Therefore, the melting point of the glaze has to be suitable with the body firing behaviour. For this purpose, in the first step of the study, particle size of calcite effects is investigated. Particle size distribution of calcite is decreased and new body compositions are prepared. Besides, precipitated calcite is incorporated to decrease more the decomposition temperature. In the second step of the study, some other alternative raw materials are replaced with calcite to decrease the firing temperature and/or firind time and the emission originated by calcite. Moreover, firing temperatures are decreased about 30ºC and the emission values are decreased as well. According to results, it has been seen that especially in large-sized monoporosa wall tiles, the new body compositions could be used.
