Abstract (EN)

Research on medicinal plants, derivative drugs, and treatment methods have an important place in terms of determining the use, area, and mechanism of action of plants. Medicinal plants are used in many societies for various reasons. At the same time, it has serious importance in the pharmaceutical industry. One of the plants known to be medicinally important is Morus alba L. In our study, it was aimed to evaluate the cytotoxic activity on the colon cancer cell line (Caco-2) together with the antioxidant activity of Morus alba L. leaf extracts collected from Bolu and Çorum provinces. The cytotoxic activity of the extracts on the Caco-2 cell line was investigated by line 3-4,5-dimethyl-thiazolyl-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) cytotoxicity assays. In antioxidant activity studies, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil (DPPH) and total antioxidant level (TAS) were evaluated by spectrophotometric methods. In line with the data we obtained, it was determined that Morus alba L. leaf extracts have proliferative activity and high antioxidant activity rather than cytotoxic activity on Caco-2 cells at varying rates depending on concentration and time. With our study results, it is emphasized that when using medicinal plants, the use of products that have been scientifically studied, whose data have been proven, and whose concentrations have been determined.
