U.S.-Egypt relations in post revolution period (2011-2014)

This study aimed to explore the relations between the United States of America and Egypt in the period from 2011 to 2014. The study sorted out USA policies and tools during the successive phases started with the Egyptian revolution, the rule of Supreme Council of Armed Forces, the period of Morsi's presidency, up to the military coup and Sisi's rise to power. The evolution of bilateral relations was reviewed seeking to understand its nature, aims and scope, and was reviewed in light of theories and concepts of hegemony. Furthermore, the study traced the positions of various American institutions (the White House, the State of Department, the Pentagon and the Congress) in response to the most prominent events during the studied period. The study also clarified the case of American sponsorship of NGOs in Egypt and its consequences on the relations. The study identified features of recession of USA influence on Egypt with the rise of influence of some regional players.
