Özet (EN)
The aim was this study to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Turkish Translations of MSTS (Musculoskeletal Tumor Society) and TESS (Toronto Extremity Salvage Score) scales, that were being frequently used in Orthopaedic Oncology. Total 36 patients with benign aggressive or malignant musculoskeletal tumors have been treated with extremity salvage surgery. Translation and back translations of the TESS and MSTS were performed according to the published guidelines. Revision for cultural adaptation is not needed. SF-36 physical component, WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index) Turkish translation, DASH (Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand) Turkish translation and ROM (Range of Joint Motion Scale) were used validity. Self-consistency and test-retest reliability of the TESS scale is highly established (Cronbach?s ?.:0,96 p<0,001). Inter-rater and intra-rater reliabilty of the MSTS scale is also highly established (Cronbach?s ?.:0,97 p<0,001). Both scales were intermediate-strong relationship with DASH, WOMAC and ROM, observed in the validity study (p<0,05). Weak-intermediate relationship is observed with the SF-36 physical component (p<0,05). Also, weak relationship is observed between the TESS scale and MSTS subgroups ?hand position? and ?hand lifting force? (p<0,05). Other subgroups are in intermediate-strong relationship with TESS scale (p<0,05). As a result; Turkish translations of TESS and MSTS scales are acceptable, understandable and reliable resources which can be used in patients with musculoskeletal tumors. Key Words: MSTS, TESS, reliability, validity
