Investigation of the relationship between leadership analysis and decision making strategies among Muay-Thai coaches

This research was conducted in order to determinate of the leadership characteristics and decision making strategiesamong Muay Thai coaches who live in Turkeye and their relations with each other.The sample group of the study consisted of 119 Muay Thai trainers participating in the coach development seminar and identified by the convenience sampling method. The "Malvern Decision Making Scale" developed by the original form Mann et al. (1998) and the "Leadership Scale for Coaches" originally developed by Chelladurai and Saleh (1980) were used for the study purpose. The distributions (f) and percentages (%) of the demographic information of the coaches participating in the study were determined by Descriptive Statistics method. Mann-Whitney U, Kruskall Wallis, and Pearson Correlation Analysis test methods were used to determine differences (α = 0.05). As a result of the analyzes made, significant differences are revealed according to the leadership characteristics of the coaches and the situation of doing sports, nationality and coaching levels; There were no significant differences according to gender, age and welfare level. Significant differences were found with the decision style of participants only with age variation, and no significant differences with other variables were found. There is a meaningful relationship between coaches' decision making styles and leadership characteristics. Key Words; Muay-Thai, Making decision and Leadership traits.
