Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of acute sleep deprivation on repeated anaerobic performance within the day in combat sports athletes. Twelve healthy male participants aged between 18-28 years were participated as volunteered in this study. All participants were trained in different combat sports. Randomized cross-over experimental design was used in the study. Participants were separated randomly into three experimental groups of normal sleep, partial sleep deprivation and whole night sleep deprivation. In normal sleep, individuals were slept their normal night sleep (8 h). In partial sleep deprivation session participants were slept at 03:00 but woke up at the same time (07:00). In whole night sleep deprivation, participants were awaked during the night. Following the all three sessions individuals were performed 6X35 m RAST test protocol on 09:00-11:00-13:00-15:00 and 17:00 hours in a day. Peak power (PP), average power (AP), fatigue index (FI) values were calculated after rast test. Friedman test was used for statistical analysis. According the statistical analysis, no significant changes were indicated in PP, MP and FI between normal sleep, partial sleep deprivation and whole night sleep deprivation. Also there were no significant differences between day times in all three experimental sessions (p>0,05) As a conclusion; repeated anaerobic performance within the day was not impaired both sleep deprivation and normal sleep sessions in combat sports athletes. Key Words: Sleep loss, rast test, Peak power, Avarage power, Fatigue index
