Abstract (EN)

This thesis explores the philosophical approach of Muhammed Aziz Lahbabi, a prominent figure in contemporary Arab-Islamic thought. Lahbabi's intellectual framework is structured around the concept of Islamic personalism, which portrays the human being as a free, responsible, and meaning-seeking entity. His approach draws on the ethical and metaphysical legacy of the Islamic tradition while simultaneously engaging in a critical dialogue with Western philosophy. The study offers an in-depth analysis of Lahbabi's key works, focusing on his views regarding fundamental concepts such as the human being, personality, morality, freedom, and civilization. In addition to textual analysis, it also examines the socio-cultural context in which Lahbabi lived, in order to trace the formative influences on his thought. Moreover, the research highlights his endeavor to establish an original synthesis between tradition and modernity, and the unique contributions he made to modern Arab intellectual discourse. The findings of this study reveal that Lahbabi's philosophy is not merely a doctrine of individual ethics, but rather a profound philosophical response to the contemporary human quest for meaning and identity. In this regard, his person-centered philosophy enables a renewed encounter between thought and the human being, and repositions philosophy as an endeavor that bears social responsibility.
