Muhammad bin Mustapha Aqkirmânî And his belief opinions

Muhammad b. Mustapha Aqkirmânî is an important scientist who lived in Ottoman Empire in XVIIIth century. He has studied both on religious sciences and humanities. And he has written works on the many field such as kalam, philosophy, logic, tafsir, hadith, fiqh and Arabic language. Therefore, it can be said that Aqkirmânî is a versatile and authority scientist in different branches of science. Besides he is an important statesman. At different times of his life, he worked as a qadi in Izmir and Egypt. He died while he was the chief judge of Mecca in 1760. This work contains Aqkirmânî‟s opinions about kalam and principles of Islamic faith. In this context, his belief views and original comments were revealed systematically. Furthermore focused on Aqkirmânî‟s contributions to kalam science at the time. In this study, qualitative research methods were utilized. And performed scanning document and content analysis as information gathering techniques. The study done with this method gives important clues about the XVIII. century Ottoman kalam thought.
