Abstract (EN)

This study analyzes Ibn Ashur's approach to Quranic stories within the scope of the preface and the interpretation of Surah Yusuf found in his publication called et-Tahrir ve't Tenvir. The analysis consists of an introduction and three sections. The topic of the study, its importance, goal, method and sources can all be found in the introduction. The first section includes Ibn Ashur's understanding of Tafseer (interpretation), the disciplines that benefit tafseer, tafseer's goal and function, his perspective on tafseer bi'l ra'y (personal speculation) and his general view of tafseer. The second section embodies the author's approach to Quranic stories. The section also mentions his approach to the issue of Arabs being familiar with the Quranic stories, the relationship that he sets forth between qissa (Quranic story) and ijaz (inimitability of the Quran), the faide (benefits) of Quranic stories which he originated, the parallelism between the faide (benefits) and the eight main topics (which he states are the fundamental topics of the Quran) and lastly his views on the wording and language of the stories. The last section tries to reflect the author's theoretical approach to Quranic stories into practice through Surah Yusuf.
