A research on determining the awareness of engineered woodproduct construction materials

This study was carried out to reveal the reasons why the wooden construction sector, which is increasing day by day, remains in the background in our country and to determine the level of awareness of engineered wood product wooden construction materials. The survey was conducted to academicians as well as engineers and architects who are in the structural wood material sector. In the study, the survey results were evaluated in the SPSS program. The majority of those who participated in the survey for the awareness of engineered wood product wooden building materials are people with high education level and working years. In this study; it is aimed to determine the awareness of materials and engineered wood product wood materials in the wood construction sector in Turkey, the reasons for their not development and what needs to be done for their development. In the results of working; with the participation of the majority of engineers, architects and academicians, it was concluded that the wooden construction-based courses were not taught with a participation rate of over 80%, among the reasons for the not development of the wooden construction sector and lack of knowledge of product standards. At the beginning of the facts that are considered very important for the development of the wooden construction sector; with a participation rate of 97,5%, it was concluded that joint curriculum planning should be made with the faculties of forest, forest industry, civil engineering and architecture. In addition, it was thought that it would be beneficial to carry out R&D studies in both industry and universities and to determine the structural characteristics of native tree species in our country and to standardize them. In the study, it was concluded that the wooden construction sector will develop with the establishment of regulations related to the wooden construction sector in our country and the training of qualified personnel.
