The relationship between faith and reason accorring to Inbn Al-Arabi's thoughts

There is a conflict seen throughout the history between reason and faith. Believers of different religions considered faith as an element to be believed without hesitation, hence reasoning became a way that is cautiously approached or shaped depending on belief or completely excluded. When the relationship between reasoning and faith is examined for religious epistemology, sources of religious postulates are questioned and whether this sources can be verified or not. The reasons underlie the questions are the existence of various perceptives on faith and conflicting opinions on the essence of faith. According to some people, faith can be grounded by rational processes and according to the others, faith has components that can not be grounded by rational processes. Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi is an important Sufi-philosopher who has been widely discussed with his thought system in the history of Islamic thought, whose name is still mentioned in the east and west and many works are written about him. According to Ibn 'Arabi, reason is a tool that leads people to the knowledge of Allah, even though it is incapable of bringing man to the knowledge of Allah. The realm of reason is not the unseen world because the mind cannot reach the knowledge of the metaphysical world. Reason is limited and the source of knowledge above the reason is discovery. Discovery leads us to the knowledge of ingenuity. The aim of the human being is to access the marifetullah. Marifetullah means access to the knowledge of Allah. Accessing the marifetullah is possible only with the discovery. The reason shows us the existence of God, and the discovery brings us to the knowledge of God, and faith brings us to introduce Himself. Therefore, reason and faith complement and reinforce each other. The person first conceives and then believes. A person who is not an intellect person is not even an amenable. Then unreasoned faith is unthinkable. Ibn Arabi stated that the importance of reason is superior to faith and emphasized the importance of reason, which is the main source for reaching the truth, and emphasized the faith which will not be realized without reason, thus emphasizing the integrity of reason and faith.
