Murathan Mungan's works of fiction analysing in the light of Lacanian psychoanalytic

Murathan Mungan, who first ventured into the world of literature with poetry, became more prominent from the late 1970s onwards with his politically and ideologically driven writings. The author, who works in a variety of genres such as poetry, song lyrics, criticism, essays, and articles, has a significant and unique place in Turkish literature with his works in short stories, novels, plays, and screenplays. Demonstrating a postmodern stance through both his poetry and fiction, Mungan's literary identity is characterized by pushing the boundaries of language and expression, open to multidimensional readings and the possibilities of different disciplines, and prominently incorporating psychoanalysis into his works. The aim of this study is to explore the reflections of Lacanian psychoanalysis in Mungan's artistic approach and fiction, which was initially discovered by Sigmund Freud, later diverged from Freud by various schools, and was brought back into the Freudian axis through Jacques Lacan's principle of "Return to Freud", while also becoming more eclectic with structuralism and linguistics. Mungan and Lacan's view of the human subject intersects in the common ground of literature and psychoanalysis, which focuses on the subject and language. Concepts like the unconscious, language, and sexuality, which form the basis of Freud and Lacan's understanding of psychoanalysis, also hold an important position in Mungan's work, who is aware of and follows psychoanalysis just as much as other philosophical, artistic and literary movements and theories This study aims to shed light on the truth of the subject and the processes of making sense of life by comparatively examining the concepts of Lacanian psychoanalysis such as subject, the Other, language and desire in Mungan's understanding of art and fictional works as well as including the author's views on the concepts such as knowledge, truth, ethics, aesthetics and art, which have changed and transformed with modernism and postmodernism.
