Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, I will argue that the representation of national masculinities in crisis in the short stories of Murathan Mungan intervene in the normative discourses of the nation-state around masculinities. In this context, I demonstrate how performativity creates alternative masculinities which are in a state of occurrence, lost their boundaries, and based on post-human hybrid embodiment against a form of performativity that becomes part of the nation-state's ideals to produce gendered and docile subjects. Through an analysis of Mungan's stories with close reading this study also discusses that masculinity is not a stable gender category and it does not represent an undisputed power and privilege position. Keywords: Crisis, Masculinity, Mungan, Nation, Performativity
