The contributions of Mûsâ Cârullah Bigiyef to the science ofqira'at

The science of recitation is one of the exceptional branches of science that ensures that the Qur'an is preserved and recited as it was revealed to the Prophet. Allah (swt) said, "We have revealed the Qur'an, and we are the ones who will protect it." As a manifestation of the verse (Surah al-Hijr 15:9), the scholars of recitation have made great efforts to this science for centuries. They have made a very valuable contribution to Islam by writing volumes on the writing and recitation of every letter and word of the Qur'an. One of the most important figures of the 20th century in the Islamic geography is undoubtedly Musa Jarullah (d. 1949). As an intellectual Muslim, he felt the hardships of his time on his shoulders. He did not remain insensitive to any of the problems faced by Muslims, and carried out intense scientific and political activities in order to be a light to them in difficult times, to guide them and to bring them out of the current crisis. Musa Cârullah wrote works in many fields of Islamic sciences, especially recitation, tafsir, fiqh and kalam, and made commentary studies. He attached a special importance to the science of recitation. The reason for this is the idea that the Islamic world is obliged to prove that the Qur'an has been preserved until today without any falsification. He stated that in order to fulfill this task, it is necessary to know the history and spelling of the Qur'an very well. Jârullah wrote works related to the history of the Qur'an and Mushafs, ahruf-u seba, resmu'l-mushaf and the arrangement of surahs, which are among the main subjects of the science of recitation, and made commentary studies on the number of verses of the Qur'an, the spelling of Mushaf and ten recitations. In our study, Musa Jarullah's views on these issues were tried to be determined.
