Space in the storytelling of Mustafa Kutlu: A literature sociology review

Human-space relationship has been continuing in integrity from the primitive to the modern period and from the modern to the postmodern age. In this context, space-human or space-society relationship is inevitable. From the historical perspective, spaces have been producing societies just like societies have been producing spaces. Therefore, there is an absolute relationship between human and space. In the course of a process extending from caves to skyscrapers, human and space have become two inseparable elements.This study, in this context, elaborates on the influence of space on human and the influence of human on space. Time is the shaper of human and space. Considering the historical process, the capitalist thought, which emerged as a result of the Industrial Revolution, influenced the human-space relationship, and spaces have transformed from a means to a purpose. This shows the power of social mobility and breakages to shape space and human. In the post-capitalist modern world, humans have sacrificed space to capitalism by considering space as an instrument of investment rather than a living area. Thus, spaces of a mechanical relationship have turned into capitalist spaces. Villages have evolved into towns, towns into cities, and cities into megacities. The relationship between modernism and tradition is based on contrast. Stories of Mustafa Kutlu can, in this context, be positioned on the axis of tradition. His stories should not be assessed only in the context of spatial elements. Human and society, which are the primary elements of literary works, are in the same status in sociology as well, so they meet on a common ground. Within the frame of this association, Mustafa Kutlu's stories are covered with sociological nuances in spatial terms.
