A study on Mustafa Refik's life and his literary works

Mustafa Refik is a writer who created his works mostly in the period of Servet-i Fünun and translated many books along with copyrights throughout his art life. We have quite limited information about Mustafa Refik's life. We couldn't get any information about his life apart from the studies of Ahmet Mithat Efendi and Mücellidoğlu Ali Çankaya from the researches that we have made in Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives. Mustafa Refik is important in terms of having newspaper articles on different subjects from education to art, from scientific subjects to travel writing, and translating many works including literary and scientific. So, it is desired to make a detailed study about him. This study consists of two main sections. In the first part; some information has been given about the writer's childhood, his family and his life of civil service, the environment in which he grew up, and his identity of the journalism. In the second part of the study; Illustrated İstanbul Newspaper has been introduced together with his own and translated works and his studies containing education, science and art on Sabah and Tercüman-ı Hakikat have been observed. The books and the articles of him which are the sources of this study have been stated under the title of "Bibliography" after the information about Mustafa Refik's books and articles have been given.
