Abstract (EN)
Istanbul, the capital of Ottoman Empire since 1453, was occupied due to being one of the defeated states in World War 1 and had become an open target for those countries that adopts the seperation of powers. After signing Armstice of Mudros on October 30, 1918 and to be so-called occupied on November 13, 1928 Istanbul was officially occupied on March 16, 1920. The unity with minorities who had live together in Istanbul for centuries was disrupted and conflicts between Greek and Armenian gangs with Turkish troops took place throughout the Armistice Period. These clashes continued until the War of Independence was won. These hostilities have instensely experienced on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. The region itself has been the most significant reason for the conflicts since it's geopolitical importance as it is the only gateway of Istanbul to Anatolia.
