Abstract (EN)

AimWe aimed to study retrospectively, viral suppression rates in patients with in naive chronic hepatitis B infection.Material and methodWe reviewed 40 naive chronic Hepatitis B patinets and compared HBV DNA, ALT and AST levels at 3 and 6 months after the start of lamivudin treatment.ResultsWe compared pretreatment, third and sixth month levels of HBV DNA. At third month, HBV DNA level dropped more than 1 log10. There were non unrespondes patient at third month At sixth month 28 patinets insufficiat response.HBV DNA levels of patinets at sixth month was sgnificantly lower than pretreatment levels(p <0,05). Mean level of AST and ALT of the beginning, third and sixth month were compared.Sixth month AST and ALT levels were significantly lower then pretreatment levels.HBsAg and AntiHBsAg status of study patinets was also compared. All of the patients were negative for AntiHBsAg at the beginning. At sixth mounth 1 patient became AntiHBsAg positive serologically.HBsAg status of study patients at the beginning and sixth mounths were compared two out of 4 HBeAg positive patinets became serologically anti HBeAG positive at sixth mounth of treatment.ConclusionAs a result, resistance to the treatment of chronic hepatitis B is a serious problem. High rate of lamivudine resistance develops during long-term use. For this reason, patients should be monitored closely.Key words: Chronic Hepatitis B, Lamivudine, HBV DNA
