A comparative analysis of the novels Nana and Cânân on the concept of femme fatale character

This thesis tries to analyse the femme fatale characters Cânân (from Cânân by Peyami Safa) and Nana (from Nana by Emilé Zola) comparatively, with a detailed reading inclusive of the both authors' attitude. For this purpose, the first chapter of the study summarizes how the social status of women has transformed and how they reacted to this transformation throughout history. Then, the second chapter focuses on what being evil means, examining the concept of femme fatale, how women characters are depicted in literature and the femme fatale characters both in the Turkish and world literature. And the third chapter, the essential one, analyses the characters Cânân and Nana individually in detail and portrays the femme fatale character shaped by these two women.
