Synthesis of nanocrystalline SnO2 and sensor production by electrophoretic deposition

Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, production of gas sensor is aimed by semi conductive metal oxide material. Production method is explained step by step. First of all, proper semi conductive material (SnO2) is applied to the surface of substrate by electrophoretic deposition process (EPD). Experiments were made to obtain stable suspensions for EPD. Nearly all agglomerates of nanoparticles were dispersed to primary particles by these investigations. EPD coating experiments were completed by obtaining homogeneous coating conditions at different voltages and time periods using these stabilised suspensions. Optimum temperature and time period is determined as 600°C and 15 minutes respectively, for sintering of these coated surfaces. Interdigital electrodes are coated by using these parameters and sintered circuits were prepared for the gas sensing (LPG) experiments. Gas sensing performance is characterized by using the sensitivity of coatings to various concentrations of LPG gas and different working temperatures.
