The analysis and critical edition of Najm al-Dīn al-Kātibī's 'Ayn al-Qawā'id

This dissertation examines logical views of Kātibī regarding to ʿAyn al-qawāʿid, who had a huge impact on the Islamic thought and compiled books which have attracted a great deal of attention of the scholarly circles. He is such an important figure that he gained great reputation thanks to his logical work, al-Shamsiyya, and his philosopical work, Ḥikmat al-ʿayn, and his works have received attention in madrasas until the final period. As a very productive scholar in the field of logic, he compiled lots of books such as ʿAyn al-qawāʿid, Baḥr al-fawāʾid, Jāmiʿ al-daqāʾiq, Sharkh Kashf al-ʾasrār, al-Munaṣṣaṣ, yet his being prominent in the field of logic is thanks to al-Shamsiyya. It spread through almost all of the Islamic lands and maintained its importance until the twentieth century. He presented features of the post-Rāzian Islamic thought due to his style and critical attitude used in his works. In the first part of our study, we considered Kātibī's logical works from a different angle and introduced them. In the second part, we evdeavored to present his views on logic through nine matters in terms of ʿAyn al-qawāʿid. In the final part, having informed about the manuscripts of ʿAyn al-qawāʿid relied upon in the edition and the method followed when editing, we released the text to researchers.
